Shift Engineer

Position: Vancouver Coastal Health Shift Engineer
Join Vancouver Coastal Health as a Third Class Assistant Shift Engineer at Vancouver General Hospital, responsible for managing complex power systems in the Power Plant. This position requires expertise in maintaining high-pressure boilers and thermal power equipment.

As part of the Power Plant team, you will engage in operating state-of-the-art equipment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Successful candidates will have a Grade 12 education, a Third Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency, and three years of experience in an industrial setting. Effective communication and teamwork skills are also crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain high pressure thermal boilers

• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

• Manage control systems for turbines and transformers

• Operate and maintain diesel generators and switch gear

• Conduct regular inspections of equipment performance

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 education and three years experience

• Valid Third Class Power Engineer’s Certificate

• Strong communication skills in various formats

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings
