Role Overview
As a member of the mechanical department, you will prepare mechanical designs—including layout, modeling, and development of arrangements and details for conveyors, heavy industrial structures, equipment, piping, ducting, and supports. Short-term travel to job sites for field measurements, inspections, or construction management may be required.
Responsibilities
Prepare mechanical designs, including layout, modeling, and detailing for conveyors and associated structures, equipment, piping, ducting, and supports.
Designer Qualifications
Formal education in design and drafting
Experience with process plant, marine terminal, wood processing plant, mine, or similar industrial facility design
Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Inventor, Navisworks, Revit, or similar software
Ability to read, remember, and apply design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications
Ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong attention to detail and excellent record‑keeping skills
Valid BC driver’s license is an asset but not required
Experience working in a steel fabrication shop is an asset but not required
Experience conducting inspections and repairs in ports, marine terminals, and mines for bulk material handling equipment is an asset
Engineer Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer (EGBC)
PE Registration in one or more US states is an asset
Experience as a project engineer, field engineer, or package engineer is an asset
