Key Responsibilities Material Control Planning- Develop and maintain the Civil Material Control Plan in alignment with project execution plans and material responsibility matrix
- Align material control activities with project schedules, CWP structure, and construction sequencing
- Establish and maintain Material Control Level Schedules
- Manage and validate material take-offs for civil works, including:
- Excavation and backfill materials
- Piping
- Precast structures
- Any other earthworks
- Perform quantity verification, cross‑checking, and change control of structural materials
- Track quantities through stages (baseline, control, forecast, IFC) and maintain audit trail
Requisition ing
- Prepare and manage material requisitions (RFQ/PO) and support procurement processes
- Coordinate with engineering and procurement on technical documentation and specifications
- Ensure requisition timing aligns with project schedules and delivery requirements
- Utilize Material Manager® / MQMS/ Quantifier systems to manage structural material data, forecasting, and reporting
- Monitor procurement status (required, ordered, received)
- Develop and maintain key quantity reports and material trend reports
- Forecast Civil material quantities and identify risks or shortages
- Support monthly reporting for project controls and management
- Interface with engineering, procurement, material planning, construction, and fabricators
- Support material planning, expediting priorities, and delivery strategies
- Assist with fabrication drawing review and piece‑mark tracking
- Support material availability planning and expediting strategies
- Assist warehouse and construction teams with:
- Material receiving (MRR)
- Shortage resolution
- Surplus minimization
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work‑related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non‑degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil construction materials management and quantity tracking
- Familiarity with infrastructure or site development projects
- Experience with material control systems (Material Manager®, MQMS, Quantifier etc.) preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner
- Ability to interpret civil drawings and conduct detailed material take‑offs.
- Familiarity with Civil Openroads software is preferred
- Ability to manage large datasets and perform quantity reconciliation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical skills in quantity tracking and forecasting
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Understanding of construction sequencing and logistics
