About The Role
Draganfly Innovations is seeking a UAS Field Engineer to support advanced unmanned systems testing, deployment, and operational integration across defense, public safety, and commercial environments. While this role is remote, regional proximity supports in‑person field operations, flight testing, customer engagements, and industry events.
This is a remote role that requires 30–50% travel based on program and deployment needs.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute structured flight test campaigns for UAS platforms, payloads, and software systems
- Develop test plans, test cards, and data collection methodologies aligned with engineering objectives
- Identify, document, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, reliability, and integration issues across aircraft, payloads, GCS, and communications systems
- Validate fixes, updates, and new features in coordination with Product and Engineering teams
- Maintain detailed test logs and deliver clear, actionable reports to inform product decisions and roadmap priorities
- Support integration of third‑party payloads, sensors, and software solutions
- Contribute to SOPs, training materials, and operational documentation to improve system reliability and reduce operator cognitive load
- Perform hands‑on field repairs and system adjustments to maintain mission readiness
- Serve as the on‑site technical authority during deployments, demonstrations, and operational evaluations
- Support and lead customer‑facing demos, training events, and mission integration activities
- Translate customer mission requirements into executable system configurations and workflows
- Train operators on system operation, mission planning, and best practices
- Collaborate with strategic partners, internal engineering, and product teams to accelerate product maturity
- Represent Draganfly as a trusted technical expert in high‑visibility, high‑pressure environments

- 5–7+ years of experience in UAS operations, flight testing, field engineering, or a similar technical role
- Hands‑on experience with multi‑rotor UAS platforms, ground control systems, and mission planning software
- Strong working knowledge of MAVLink‑based systems and tools such as QGround Control
- Proven ability to plan, execute, and document structured flight test campaigns
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex systems across aircraft, payloads, communications, and GCS
- Deep understanding of UAS flight operations, regulatory considerations, and operational risk management
- FPV flight skills and strong situational awareness during testing and field operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, actionable feedback to engineering and product teams
- Ability to work effectively in dynamic, high‑pressure field environments
- Willingness to travel approximately 30–50% based on program needs
- Military aviation or UAS background (Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, SOCOM, or defense contractor experience)
- Direct mission experience supporting defense, public safety, ISR, or enterprise drone programs
- Familiarity with FAA Part 107, BVLOS waivers, public safety COAs, Transport Canada RPAS, or emerging airworthiness frameworks
- Experience working in a hardware/software startup, robotics company, or dual‑use defense technology environment
- Hands‑on experience with third‑party payload integrations, sensors, and tactical communications systems
- Exposure to BVLOS enablement, mesh networking, or operations in GPS‑denied or degraded environments
- Competitive salary: CAD $105,000 – $120,000
