Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer based in Vancouver to support KOA’s multidisciplinary engineering projects across Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will have an active Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.) in Québec (OIQ), or the ability to obtain OIQ licensure within one year. The candidate will utilize their experience and expertise in mechanical engineering to provide engineering solutions to a diverse clientele, including multinational industry leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and execute office and field engineering projects which can include major design and construction projects from clients based in Canada, the US, and globally.
  • Prepare detailed plans, calculations, and specifications related to a wide variety of engineering projects.
  • Prepare proposals, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for mechanical and multidiscipline engineering projects.
  • Perform or oversee engineering construction inspections for assigned projects.
  • Perform or oversee testing and inspections of mechanical components and materials.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports regarding the progress and completion of engineering projects.
  • Perform or oversee field surveys as required throughout the project life cycle.
  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations regarding proposed and ongoing projects to KOA staff and clients.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with an active Professional Engineering Registration (P.Eng.) in Québec (OIQ) or the ability to obtain OIQ licensure within 1 year.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Mechanical and/or Industrial engineering design, with demonstrated leadership in executing complex projects.
  • Knowledge and application of the principles and practices of CAD development and creation of drawing packages at various stages of design development.
  • Familiarity with Project Management Methodologies.
  • Effective communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and clients in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and ability to implement complex mechanical engineering principles and practices applied to project design and construction.
Additional Skills & Capabilities
  • Experience with site visits, taking accurate field measurements, making and interpreting the resulting calculations.
  • Experience with varied types of mechanical systems commonly found in Heavy Industry (Mining, Pulp/Paper, Bulk Material Facilities or similar facilities).
  • Experience with Revit, Belt Analyst and Dust Collection Modelling Software.
