Process Mechanical Designer
Brown and Caldwell (BC) invites you to join our team as a Process Mechanical Designer. This role supports senior designers in multi‑discipline designs for facilities serving the water and wastewater industries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop process mechanical piping designs and equipment layouts in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate P&IDs and piping specifications.
- Engage in cross‑discipline model coordination and clash resolution.
- Create detailed process mechanical/piping drawings for project design gates and milestones.
- Schedule valves and equipment, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Provide technical support for assigned tasks.
- Participate in formal training and on‑the‑job education.
- Adapt to additional assignments as needs evolve.
Mentorship
- Mentor and support less experienced team members to grow their skills.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of process mechanical piping design and equipment layout.
- Ability to coordinate P& piping specifications.
- Cross‑discipline model coordination/clash resolution experience.
- Understanding of level of detail at project design gates and milestones.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of process mechanical design or related experience.
Preferred Experience
- 4+ years of related process mechanical design experience.
- Experience with Open Plant and Smart PIDs.
- Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure designs.
- 3D modeling, BIM design, drawing production expertise.
- Strong technical communication and writing skills.
Education
- Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
Salary Range (Canada)
- $30.70 - $38.50 per hour
