Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities
This is a four‑month assignment that will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers, and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the engineering department at BCRTC.
This position will assist Engineering in various projects related to maintaining and operating BCRTC guideway and rail assets, researching mechanical issues on guideway and wayside elements, researching and developing design standards and process improvements, and ensuring compliance.
Qualifications- Mechanical Engineering student in the third or fourth year preferred with a strong academic background in mechanical engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, and competence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Valid BC class 5 driver’s license.
- Currently enrolled in a recognized post‑secondary Mechanical Engineering program at a BC university.
- Previous co‑op experience is a strong asset.
- Previous industrial experience is an asset.

- Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Positive and self‑motivated.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of computer systems and software.

- Demonstration of excellent grades.

Work Schedule37.5 hours per week. This is a full‑time temporary position for approximately four months.
Work DesignationResident. This position works predominately on‑site.
Rate of PayThe salary for this position ranges from $65,600 - $98,400 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
