In this position, you will lead a team to manage cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, forecasting, and planning/scheduling activities for a project that requires technical skill and expertise. You will provide leadership, oversight, guidance, training, and mentoring to your team on key project procedures and risk management to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
Major Responsibilities- Manage cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, and planning/scheduling activities for a project or for discipline/project/proposal estimating or staff planning activities that require a high degree of technical skill and experience
- Develop the preparation and presentation of project/program estimates and cost forecasts
- Support project/program organizational and administrative activities
- Provide generally non-routine cost engineering/planning and scheduling guidance
- Identify and provide innovative solutions to cost engineering and planning/scheduling problems
- Review Earned Revenue Determination Data, Proposal Financial Summaries, Project Financial Status Reports, and Charge for Project Working Capital calculations for the assigned project/program
- Review contract drafts for adequacy of cost and scope definition and Project Controls requirements
- Coordinate development of all data in support of negotiations
- Provide oversight, training, mentoring, and ensure capability of Project Risk Coordinator(s) and Project Risk Specialist(s) in conducting PERM activities towards the attainment of project objectives
- Provide leadership in terms of integrating the risk management process with other key project procedures (e.g., Change Management, Forecasting, Cost, Trends, and Claims) and support corporate
- Requires bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and 13‑15 years of relevant experience or 17‑19 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in performing, monitoring and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, project setup, control, analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting/systems
- Demonstrated experience in performing, monitoring and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis
- Demonstrated experience in change management, including trend program
- Experience in delivering operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates
- Supervision of project estimates, cost forecasts and management information reporting
- Demonstrated leadership in non‑routine cost engineering and planning/scheduling
- Experience providing leaders and stakeholders with risk awareness support and guidance
- Experience in delivering large‑scale fully integrated EPC / EPCM projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience presenting information to internal and external stakeholders at a senior level
- Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel
- Significant experience of leading, managing and organizing teams of diverse backgrounds and experience to meet project objectives
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Project Controls Management experience, leading Project Controls teams in support of large scale EPC projects
- Solid cross‑discipline experience (cost controls, planning & scheduling, estimating and risk management)
- Experience operating in a Project Controls Management capacity with the mining industry
