Job Summary
The Associate Principal manages the Project Design Team, overseeing staffing, task distribution, technical support, and team accountability. They ensure design decisions are sound and that the team remains productive and effective.
Responsibilities- Lead a team, ensuring members receive adequate training, support, and development opportunities
- Accountable for utilization, workload planning, and forecasting
- Implement programs to improve the quality of service, products, and systems to meet client requirements, minimize costs, and maximize the firm’s competitive position
- Promote quality issues with all team members and ensure the quality control function is embedded as a standard in the team
- Assure adequate field review services are provided to ensure adherence of contract documents
- Act as the firm representative and maintain good relationships with clients, project stakeholders, associations, government bodies, and other entities
- Serve as an active role model for team and office culture and promote an inclusive workplace
- Build and manage key clients, monitoring key pursuits/opportunities
- Contribute to GO/NO‑GO decisions with the mindset of growing the business
- Monitor and assist in keeping team performance at or above the annual plan
- Act as a discipline lead on projects with minimal peer/technical support required
- 10+ years of design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Control systems
- Experience leading and designing Science & Technology projects
- Led a team or mentored junior/intermediate staff members
- Experience responding to RFPs and writing Business Cases
- University degree, college or technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PEng) license
- LEED® Accredited professional designation or other relevant rating or performance system is desired
Base compensation range: $140,800–$176,000 annually, commensurate with local market.
