About The Position Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
VancouverDometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.
As Product Designer, Mechatronics of the Vancouver team, you will be working in cross‑functional teams to develop electromechanical products that lead the marine industry. You will be involved in the complete development cycle from concept to production. You will help to design safe, reliable, sustainable, and innovative products such as steer‑by‑wire systems, vessel control systems, or power control systems that can make boating easier and safer for boaters around the world.
GeneralResponsibilities
- Contribute across the full development cycle, from requirements definition through design, implementation, validation, documentation, and ongoing production support.
- Take ownership of subsystem design decisions, including concept development, evaluation of design alternatives (trade studies), risk identification, and validation, with scope increasing with experience.
- Design electromechanical components and assemblies, including concept generation, 3D modeling, material selection, stress analysis, electromagnetic analysis, and system modeling.
- Hands‑on prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of electromechanical systems.
- Support test execution and failure investigations, including instrument setup and data interpretation.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop engineering requirements and specifications.
- Support new product launches by working with cross‑functional teams, including design engineering, product management, test engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, marketing, and production.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical depth and rapidly build product knowledge.
- Design products and components using tools and methods such as FEA, DFMEA, VAVE, and DFMA.
