Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee multidisciplinary project teams in the design of tailings storage facilities, including advanced analyses (dynamic, FLAC, liquefaction).
• Collaborate in the development and optimization of tailings containment designs.
• Prepare and review technical studies, geotechnical investigations, design drawings, and specifications related to tailings site selection and development.
• Conduct and contribute to technical reviews, including peer reviews, dam safety reviews, and inspections of tailings and mine waste facilities.
• Participate actively in project meetings, providing geotechnical expertise and guidance.
• Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and business development initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering; postgraduate degree in geotechnical engineering (or equivalent experience) strongly preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces.
• 15+ years of relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large- and small-scale projects within mining and metals.
• Strong technical expertise in tailings dam design and analysis.
• Stress-strain modeling (e.g., FLAC or equivalent).
• Dynamic and seismic analysis.
• Liquefaction assessment.
• Slope stability and seepage analysis.
• Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, hydrology, hydrogeology, and environmental specialists.
