Technical Director, Petroleum Releases & NAPL Remediation

Location:

Vancouver, British Columbia.

We are looking for a Technical Director to support the Environmental Services group in petroleum releases & NAPL remediation projects.

• Support project teams in the management and coordination of remedial investigation and remedial action projects focused on petroleum releases and other non-aqueous phase liquid contaminated sites.
• Plan and coordinate field work, including well installation, soil borings, sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, indoor air; aquifer testing; groundwater & surface water level monitoring; remedial action implementation & monitoring; geophysical survey; vapor intrusion mitigation & monitoring; NAPL mobility/stability assessments; natural attenuation studies.
• Prepare LNAPL Site Conceptual Models.
• Evaluate LNAPL mobility, stability and transmissivity.
• Model NAPL mobility, vapor intrusion, natural attenuation and other analytical models as needed.
• Support project teams in proposal preparation, evaluation of field and laboratory data, evaluation of environmental regulations, workplan and report preparation, budgeting/cost estimating, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client relations.
• Evaluate LNAPL remedial options and develop remedial work plans.
• Interact with project stakeholders including GHD management, clients, agencies, local governments and the public.
• Train and mentor staff.

• Master’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering (related fields also considered).
• Professional license is highly regarded (e.g., PE or PG).
• 10-20 years of project management and/or technical support experience on contaminated site assessment and remediation projects.
• Experience with contaminant transport modelling, aquifer analysis, statistical software, GIS, and/or human and ecological risk assessments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in project and industry group settings.
• Capacity to participate in technical authority activities such as technical guidance creation, conferences, thought leadership.
• Strong written and verbal communication and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to recognize the need for adjustments in execution strategy and proactively implement change.
• Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Ability to handle conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Project.
• Able and willing to travel to job sites and client locations as necessary.

• Hybrid Work Model: office three days a week combined with flexible collaboration.
• Salary range: $147,890 to $187,600 (based on location; base salary determined by skills, experience, qualifications and location).
