Drive building safety and compliance as a Code Compliance Specialist with the City of Vancouver. This position emphasizes technical interpretation of building regulations and project oversight.
As a Building Code Specialist, you will perform complex advisory work critical to Vancouver's building permits and regulations.
Your role involves independently interpreting the Building By-law, overseeing the Certified Professional process, and managing a team of Project Coordinators. This position is pivotal in maintaining the quality of life and sustainable development in the city.
Key Responsibilities:
• Authorize and oversee Building Permit Issuance
• Provide technical comments interpreting building regulations
• Review complex projects and resolve professional queries
• Mentor and supervise specialized technical Project Coordinators
• Conduct discussions with design professionals regarding regulatory compliance
Requirements:
• Degree in relevant engineering or architecture field
• Considerable experience with the Building By-law and BC codes
• Preference for completion of the Certified Professionals Program
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with City of Vancouver’s development processes
