Principal Mining Engineer

Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Mining Engineer to join our Underground team in Canada or North America. You will work collaboratively towards delivering high‑quality solutions and results to AMC clients. The role requires technical delivery of projects, risk and quality management, advanced underground analysis, and the development of technical documents (reports) for key clients throughout the various project execution phases (pre‑feasibility, feasibility, mine operations, site assessment, closure).
The candidate should demonstrate professional work output, maintain, build and further develop client relationships as part of project delivery and business development, and manage and execute underground projects in diverse mining environments.
AMC’s underground team covers a broad spectrum of services, creating a varied and interesting array of projects to work on. Services include technical mining studies (scoping, pre‑feasibility and feasibility), life‑of‑mine planning, ore reserve estimation, due diligence, cost estimation, and reporting to JORC, NI 43‑101 and similar industry codes.

Salary
C $150,000 – $200,000, the salary will be based on your overall experience and qualifications.
Skills And Competencies
Core functions
Contribute strong technical expertise across a range of underground mining methods and environments
Provide consulting support and practical engineering solutions
Project manage assignments across disciplines when necessary
Mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Deliver high‑quality reports, presentations and project documentation
Support company‑wide project management activities and uphold AMC’s values and standards
Competencies
Proven consulting experience with solid analytics, integrative, and problem‑solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication, including high‑quality report writing
Excellent interpersonal skills with a client‑focused approach
Demonstrated project management skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support team development
Open to new ideas, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement
Proficient in relevant mining software and general computer applications
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mining engineering
Minimum 15 years’ experience in underground mining with a strong technical and practical focus
Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coupled with strong problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities
Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism, with values aligned to those of AMC
