General Description

• The E4 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

Location:

Vancouver Island - Onsite (no remote candidates) Candidate shall relocate to Victoria. No Accommodation will be provided. Please note that assignment include working night shifts in the first 7-8 months possibly.

Responsibilities
Work Assignment Requirements:

Site Engineer with Civil Geotech background and experience in the underground utility construction and design. Preferred experience in underground transmission line construction and design.

Assignment include working night shifts . No Fly-in/Fly-Out. Candidate shall relocate to Victoria. No Accommodation will be provided:

· Assist in the development of engineering design documentation, including design basis reports, scopes of work, construction work packages, and material take-offs.

· Develop, review, and coordinate civil engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.

· Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure alignment with project requirements, constructability, and schedule objectives.

· Support route selection studies and identify potential conflicts during daylighting and early project investigation phases.

· Perform constructability assessments and participate in inspections throughout various stages of the project lifecycle.

· Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), Substitution/Equivalency Request (SRQ’s), issuing field instructions, and conducting field reviews on behalf of the Engineer of Record.

· Conduct regular construction site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, codes, and applicable standards.

· Perform design reviews, construction inspections, and contract administration duties as required.

· Carry out reviews of contractor’s deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

· Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including site inspection reports, field review reports, deficiency lists, and inspection logs.

· Document construction progress, non-conformances, and corrective actions, and communicate findings to the project team.

· Assist with commissioning activities and the preparation of project close-out documentation, including as-built drawings, design conformance certificate and Construction Completion reports.

· Liaise with construction management, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to support safe, compliant, and successful project delivery.

· Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements on site, ensuring work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, BC Hydro policies, and project specific safety plans.

Qualifications
Must haves :
Training and

Certifications:

· Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC.

· Professional Liability Insurance.

· First Aid training. Optional Transportation Endorsement.

· Driver’s License

· Civil Geotech background and experience in the underground utility construction

Nice to have:

Preferred experience in underground transmission line construction and design
