Opportunity Summary and

Key Responsibilities

Stantec is looking for a Building Commissioning Consultant to join the Building Commissioning Service Line in Vancouver. The position entails project delivery and continued development of the service line at a provincial level and will play an important role in expanding the capacity of the Vancouver commissioning practice by independently delivering project work and supporting the growth of the service line.

Key

responsibilities of this position are:
  • Delivery of Commissioning services for building mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Preparation of Commissioning documentation including test scripts and final reports

  • Interaction with general contractors, electrical / mechanical contractors and clients.

  • Interaction with the rest of the commissioning personnel at Stantec

  • Assistance with general project delivery in British Columbia.

  • Conduct project delivery activities related to Building Commissioning, including LEED-related commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects.

  • Conduct site visits associated with the delivery of Commissioning services in and around the British Columbia.

  • Attend meetings and coordinate work related to Commissioning services with other disciplines and team members, including mechanical, electrical, building code, building envelope/science, and other services at Stantec.

  • Liaison/coordination with clients, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction

  • Interact and participate in developing strategies and business plans for the expansion of the service line

  • Conduct full commissioning scope including developing of commissioning plans, checklists, test scripts, conducting commissioning meetings and site visits, review of contractor’s reports, overseeing commissioning activities conducted by other project personnel and contractors

  • Ability to review testing results, trend-logs, control inputs and outputs.

Required Candidate Profile

This intermediate-level role is intended for a building commissioning professional with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience who can immediately lead small projects with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will support a broad variety of building types and balance multiple concurrent assignments, often switching between site work, office work, meetings, technical reviews, calls, and project inquiries within the same day.

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, building, or related engineering discipline is preferred. Engineering technologists and experienced Red Seal electricians, HVAC technicians, or other tradespeople transitioning into commissioning may also be considered when they have relevant commissioning experience.

  • Strong expertise in either mechanical or electrical building systems is required, together with general working knowledge of the complementary discipline. Mechanical expertise is fully acceptable; candidates with additional electrical knowledge are preferred.

  • Knowledge of building commissioning principles is required, including new construction commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning.'
