Junior/Intermediate Water Resources Engineer

Play an integral role in Worley's Environmental & Sustainability team, supporting the delivery of innovative water resources solutions that help clients manage complex environmental challenges and advance sustainable project outcomes. Purpose of the roleAs a Junior/Intermediate Water Resources Engineer
, you will support the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of water resource management solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will apply engineering principles and water modeling expertise to address complex hydrologic, hydraulic, water management, and environmental challenges while contributing to high-quality project execution, client satisfaction, and business growth.
You will collaborate closely with project managers, technical specialists, and clients to deliver practical, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions while continuing to build your technical and professional capabilities within a leading global consulting organization.
Location(s):Calgary, Alberta or Vancouver, British Columbia
This is a full-time position with flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work options based on project and business requirements. Travel may be required to support client engagement, field programs, and project delivery activities across North America.
You will be responsible for- Supporting the delivery of water resources and surface water management projects across mining, chemicals, infrastructure, environmental, and industrial sectors.
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support engineering assessments, environmental studies, and project development activities.
- Developing and applying water resources models using tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Gold Sim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
- Assisting with watershed assessments, flood studies, drainage evaluations, stormwater management planning, and water balance analyses.
- Preparing technical reports, engineering studies, design documentation, and client deliverables that meet Worley's quality standards.
- Contributing to project execution through effective management of scope, schedule, budget, and deliverable requirements.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resource considerations into broader environmental and engineering solutions.
- Supporting client relationship development by delivering exceptional service and contributing to positive project outcomes.
- Monitoring industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies related to water resource management.
- Participating in business development activities, including proposal preparation, technical inputs, and market engagement initiatives.
- Supporting Worley's commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence in all aspects of project delivery.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
The Role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization or focus in Water Resources Engineering.
- Approximately 3 to 7 years of relevant consulting, engineering, or water resources experience.
- Experience supporting water resources projects within mining, industrial, municipal, environmental, energy, or chemical sectors.
- Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Gold Sim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
- Understanding of watershed management, flood risk assessment, drainage design, stormwater management, and surface water processes.
- Eligibility for registration, or registration in good standing, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) within Canada.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and review technical documentation and present findings clearly.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with clients, regulators, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and quality management.
- Familiarity with project delivery systems, quality management processes, and engineering consulting practices.
