Position: Senior VFX Artist (Contract)

And this is where you come in…The Senior VFX Artist is a key contributor to game development teams and they are responsible for crafting visually striking and engaging Visual Effects that enhance the overall player experience.

They collaborate closely with Artists, Designers, and Engineers to create stunning and dynamic VFX for our games.

You can expect to be responsible for:

  • Process and Workflow
  • Responsible for defining and optimizing animation workflow and pipeline.
  • VFX Artistic Development
  • Create and implement a wide range of high-quality VFX in Unity, including but not limited to:
    Gameplay Character VFX, Cinematic VFX, Environment VFX, Combat VFX, Front-end VFX, magic, and more.
  • Work with the Art and Design teams to ensure VFX alignment with Artistic vision and Gameplay.
  • VFX Technical Development
  • Work with other artists and engineers on the development of shaders and rendering techniques.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in the VFX production process.
  • Quality Feedback and Guidance
  • Review VFX submitted by internal and external VFX artists. Providing critique, feedback, and guidance accordingly.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of VFX quality for the project.
  • Your background includes:

  • Post-secondary education in related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working on real-time VFX in mobile, PC or console game development.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong skills in VFX.
  • Proven experience as a VFX artist in the gaming industry.
  • Strong proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Unity and Photoshop. A bonus if you also have experience with Maya, Houdini, Unreal, After Effects, Substance Designer, etc. to create VFX.
  • $48 - $60 an hour

    The typical hiring range listed above is specific to candidates located in Vancouver. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies.
