* Job Description:

**** JOB PURPOSE****:
** The Support Attendant is responsible for the supervision of clients/property through regular rounds of inspection.
** CHARACTERISTIC

JOB DUTIES:

*** Makes scheduled rounds of inspections, checks safety/security, monitors clients/residents and premises; maintains an atmosphere of calm, providing an unobtrusive presence
* Understands and is aware of emergency/disaster procedures and follows through
* Liaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed (e.g. police, parole, urgent situations)
* Coordinates client care relating to security issues; may be directly involved in taking urine samples, doing bed checks, and room/personal searches
* Reports security problems to appropriate staff.
* Ongoing enforcement of policies, which may include client discipline or recommending banning of current or prospective clients
* Meets visitors and directs and accompanies them as necessary; may include contact to resident/client
* May serve as Relief Front Desk Clerk
* Performs other duties as assigned
** MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:
** The successful job applicant will have completed High School plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
** SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:
*** Immunization for Hepatitis B
* Vaccination against Tuberculosis
* WHMIS training
* Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
* Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
* Mental Health First-Aid
* Motivational Interviewing
* Non-violent crisis intervention training
** MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED

EXPERIENCE:

** One year of prior related experience, including, security experience.
** PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY

REQUIRED:

** The performance of the job requires continuously performing walkabouts, and occasionally keyboarding and lifting/packing clients’ belongings.
** CONCENTRATION

REQUIRED:

** The performance of the job requires continuously monitoring the environment, interacting with clients, and occasionally recording information and monitoring security cameras.
** RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES:
** The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly, or on a relief basis, or has responsibility for the wise use of his/her own resources. He/She may be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget.
** RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES:
** The incumbent is responsible for his/her own time and effort only. He/She may demonstrate work methods to new employees.

** The incumbent’s work environment is typically in a shelter and/or in Treatment facilities/grounds.  The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
