Senior Technical Artist; Rigging - EA SPORTS Technology
About the Role:
EA Sports Technical Art is seeking a Senior Rigging Technical Artist to partner with project leadership and our technical artists to develop next‑generation content creation tools. The role directly impacts future technology developments for EA Sports titles.
Your Responsibilities:- Develop cutting‑edge rigging‑centric game features, including character rigging, deformation, and simulation.
- Prototype and refine workflows, maintain assets, and drive script and tool development.
- Collaborate with runtime engineers to solve real‑time graphics challenges and resolve technical or quality issues.
- Assume ownership of content and address technical bottlenecks within the rigging pipeline.
Qualifications:
- At least 5+ years of cinematic/games production experience in technical art/rigging/animation.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, animation principles, and complex skeleton and control rig design.
- Experience with procedural rigging and secondary animation.
- Excellent communication skills across artists, engineers, and managers.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient scripting/programming in Python.
- Experience with Autodesk Maya.
- A willingness to tackle new problems and overcome technical challenges.
- A passion for games.
- Experience with game engines (commercial or proprietary).
- Experience with Houdini and Vellum (Cloth/Muscle simulation).
- Experience with Git and code review.
- Understanding of 3D mathematics.
- Familiarity with motion capture (data acquisition).
- Knowledge of Houdini VEX/Hscript.
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
- British Columbia (location dependent, e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria): 141,400 - 204,400 CAD
For Canada, the package includes vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when welcoming a new child, extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan, and potential bonuses or equity.
