Respawn Entertainment, an Academy Award‑winning studio behind Apex Legends, Titanfall, and Star Wars™ Jedi titles, invites you to join as a Senior VFX Artist. In this role you will craft high‑quality real‑time visual effects that bring Legends, weapons, and seasonal moments to life while mentoring and supporting the VFX team.

• Create and implement high‑quality real‑time VFX for legend abilities, weapons, seasonal content, and gameplay moments, ensuring polished and impactful effects.
• Define and maintain the visual quality bar for VFX across seasonal updates, weapon releases, character abilities, and gameplay moments.
• Actively mentor and guide VFX artists, supporting their growth and career goals.
• Lead career‑development conversations, including goal‑setting, performance feedback, and opportunities for stretch work.
• Solve complex VFX problems – visual polish, performance constraints, and technical issues – throughout the content pipeline.
• Collaborate closely with Art, Design, Animation, and Engineering to support gameplay, improve clarity, and strengthen the visual identity of Apex Legends.
• Contribute to visual direction and evolve Apex’s real‑time VFX language, supporting production planning for effective scope and delivery.

• 5+ years of professional experience as a real‑time VFX artist in the games industry.
• Strong portfolio of shipped in‑game real‑time VFX work, especially bombastic, gritty combat or VFX‑driven intensity.
• Passion for mentoring and guiding other artists, finding satisfaction in teammates’ breakthroughs.
• People‑management experience (career growth support, feedback, leadership) is a plus.
• Proficiency with DCC tools such as Maya, Houdini, Photoshop, or Substance Designer and experience implementing work within a game engine or proprietary toolset.
• Excellent cross‑discipline communication and collaboration skills with a proactive approach to feedback and problem‑solving.
• Passion for making and playing games.
• Experience with first‑person games, sci‑fi art direction, or live‑service seasonal content is a plus.
• Shipped AAA game credit is a plus.

The ranges listed below are what EA expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of posting. Pay is determined based on business and candidate factors. Candidates in other locations will receive a recruiter‑based range.

• British Columbia (Vancouver or Victoria): $114,300 – $156,200 CAD
• California (Los Angeles or San Francisco): $127,700 – $190,600 USD
