Commodore Ballroom

Role

You will have the opportunity to be part of a very special team at one of Canada’s most iconic live music venues, the Commodore Ballroom. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the Commodore Ballroom has been a cornerstone of the city’s entertainment scene since 1929, hosting legendary artists and unforgettable live events. With a capacity of approximately 1,000 guests and a diverse calendar of concerts and special events, the Commodore offers a unique and historic atmosphere for both fans and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Greet arriving guests and provide information regarding showtimes, venue amenities, events.
  • Verify government-issued photo identification to ensure all guests meet the venue’s 19+ age requirement and comply with liquor licensing regulations.
  • Assess guest safety upon entry and throughout events, identifying signs of intoxication, impairment, or other concerns that may impact the safety and enjoyment of guests and staff. Escalate concerns to Security or Management as required.
  • Scan and validate tickets using venue ticketing equipment and procedures, ensuring guests are admitted efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist guests requiring accessibility accommodations to ensure a safe, comfortable, and inclusive experience.
  • Provide clear direction to various venue areas including seating sections, bars, washrooms, merchandise activations, and exits.
  • Proactively identify and respond to guest needs while maintaining awareness of activity throughout the venue.
  • Communicate guest concerns, incidents, or situations requiring escalation to management promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor assigned areas and guest conduct to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and service-focused environment.
  • Follow all venue safety protocols and emergency procedures, including evacuation processes and exit awareness.
  • Support overall venue operations and assist with additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • You have strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
  • You want to make every guest’s experience as memorable and special as possible.
  • Experience in a hospitality environment is an asset, but not a must.
  • Kind, positive, and helpful with a reliable and passionate attitude.
  • You can take directions and work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • You possess a strong work ethic with a high sense of responsibility in an ever-changing environment.
  • You can work independently and within a team to juggle multiple prioritized tasks.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Compensation

$20.00/hour

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; stands and walks throughout the day; occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels.
