Position: Gameplay Designer 2
This is a hybrid role in Vancouver, BC.
Pay Range: C $48/hr – C $52/hr

Are you a visionary game designer with a passion for crafting unforgettable player experiences? We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Gameplay Designer to join a dynamic team dedicated to shaping the future of action games. In this pivotal role, you will have the unique opportunity to directly influence the core gameplay, designing and refining missions, modes, and combat systems that will thrill players and leave a lasting impression.

Your expertise will be instrumental in bringing ambitious design visions to life, contributing to titles that define the industry.
Responsibilities   Ideate, design, and steward the development of engaging missions, compelling game modes, and innovative gameplay systems from concept through to final polish.
Utilize industry-standard tools, including Unreal Engine, to create, implement, and debug intricate missions and gameplay mechanics.
Take ownership of the design and quality of your assigned missions and gameplay systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of player experience.
Actively collaborate with a diverse team of designers, technical designers, artists, and programmers to achieve a cohesive and compelling game vision.
Serve as a key point of contact for various departments (e.g., Cinematics, VFX, Sound, Programmers), facilitating clear communication and integration.
Implement memorable challenges, dynamic combat encounters, clear objectives, and impactful scripted events within the game engine.
Participate in regular critique sessions, providing constructive feedback on your own work and that of your peers to continuously elevate design quality.
Present your work effectively to design leads, adapting quickly to feedback and iterating on designs to achieve optimal results.
Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation to ensure clarity and consistency throughout the development process.
Qualifications   Demonstrated experience with visual scripting or scripting languages, ideally within Unreal Engine, showcasing strong technical capability.
Solid understanding of game design fundamentals, including mechanics, constraints, and narrative integration.
Proven knowledge and practical experience in implementing and utilizing gameplay systems within game levels.
Experience working effectively in a collaborative, cross-discipline development environment.
Proficiency with current scripting languages and level editors.
Familiarity with game consoles and their associated development tools.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, fostering clear and effective collaboration.
Awareness of accessibility and inclusivity within video games and workspace environments.
Comfortable working with and communicating with other disciplines and teams.
A proactive approach to identifying and improving workflows and pipelines.
A positive, collaborative, and team-centric mindset.
A genuine passion for games and the gaming industry.
