Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including transactional processing, financial statement preparation, analysis, monitoring, cost allocation, audit support, and the implementation of financial and compliance controls.
This position is a full-time, 12-month contract, with strong potential for extension. The incumbent will work on-site, five days per week.
Responsibilities- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Conduct detailed general ledger account review and reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
- Provide backup support for accounts payable functions as needed
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports to support evolving business needs and decision-making
- Monitor departmental and program budgets to ensure alignment with financial targets
- Provide support for external audits
- Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Perform other duties as required to support the finance team and organizational goals
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) required, combined with a university degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sound judgement and a high level of responsibility
- Ability to work manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams
