Position: Payroll Clerk (12‑Month Contract)

Overview

BA Blacktop is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join our payroll team. This position supports the Payroll Supervisor and helps ensure smooth, accurate payroll operations during a 12-month maternity leave coverage term, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
  • Calculate employees' worked payable hours, bonuses, tax with holdings, and deductions
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salary employees
  • Ensure all banking information for each employee is correct
  • Keep employee information updated
  • Process ROEs
  • Process full-cycle employee benefits; enrolment, changes & terminations
  • Create supporting documentation such as payslips and tax forms
  • Create reports to manage payroll payments, deductions, and other regular modifications
  • Manage payroll errors and correct issues for employees
  • Balance yearly reports and reconcile bank statements monthly
  • Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax with holdings, and deductions
  • Provide information and answer employee questions about payroll-related matters
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Introductory accounting courses
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience with union agreements is an asset
  • Intermediate computer skills (including MS Office, Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Proven organization and time management skills
  • Ability to focus on established priorities, and attention to detail

Additional Information

This is a 12-month contract maternity leave coverage position, with potential for extension.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 (CAD) per year, based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and professional background.

Location: North Vancouver or Surrey office. We offer flexibility for this role to be based in either location.
