The finance function plays a key role in ensuring strong financial oversight, compliance, and reporting across a group of internal entities.
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting across a group of internal corporate entities. This role is responsible for financial reporting, analysis, revenue recognition, receivables and payables, statutory compliance, and a variety of project-based initiatives.
The ideal candidate is systems-savvy, detail-oriented, highly reliable, and comfortable communicating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile bank and brokerage statements on a weekly/monthly basis
- Complete period-end checklists for multiple entities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Perform monthly working paper reconciliations
- Review trial balances and conduct variance analysis
- Support complex journal entries related to acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and reorganizations
- Lead accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Lead monthly invoicing, deferred revenue tracking, revenue recognition, forecasting, customer onboarding, and collections
- Review and reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare supporting invoices
- Prepare invoices for management, board, and resource fees
- Support full-cycle accounts payable for assigned entities
- Maintain comprehensive paper and electronic records for all entities (statements, correspondence, financials, tax records)
- Maintain required corporate information within internal databases
- Maintain statutory compliance schedules for all entities
- Review invoices for correct sales tax treatment and prepare GST/HST filings and remittances
- Prepare and file Employer Health Tax and WCB filings and payments
- Support transfer pricing calculations and related tax filings
- Prepare year-end packages for external accountants and liaise confidently with them
- Prepare internal financial statement packages
- Assist with quarterly board reporting packages
- Support preparation of bank reporting packages
- Assist with weekly cash flow forecasting
- Support phased ERP and finance system implementations and updates
- Assist with corporate structuring initiatives
- Support quarterly and year-end tax planning distributions
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and workflow efficiency
- Self-starter who thrives in a small, collaborative team environment
- Strong interest in accounting, tax, and continuous learning
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a multi-entity environment
- Public practice experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP/reporting tool experience is an asset
- Experience with financial statement consolidation
- Experience supporting accounting for a foundation or registered charity is an asset
