The Financial Associate is accountable to assist and support the Financial Planners (FP) in new business development and maximizing productivity by providing administrative support through the fulfillment of the FP’s day‑to‑day activities. The role focuses on delivering a positive member experience, establishing strong relationships, and maintaining high‑quality service while liaising with other teams to serve members, drive sales, growth and retention objectives, and manage portfolio maintenance in the FP’s absence.

The Associate uncovers and refers complex investment needs, personal insurance, small business or mobile needs to the appropriate specialized channels. Sound industry knowledge and business judgment are required to meet all accountability areas, including insurance and investment referrals that benefit our members.

What you’ll get to do:
  • Maintain and build positive member relationships, including greeting and servicing incoming needs of investment members.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly, taking ownership of member experience by ensuring timely and accurate responses to client requests (in person, by phone, via e‑mail).
  • Process day‑to‑day administrative operations such as assuming lead liaison role in all member estate and marital dissolution administration; managing FP messages and email; ordering supplies and business cards.
  • Support the FP in ensuring contact management requirements are scheduled and executed on behalf of the FP; book and confirm appointments, ensuring members have necessary information in preparation for meetings.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of member files, proactively noting any opportunities for follow‑up and recommendation to the FP.
  • Prepare account opening, trade, financial planning, and maintenance documentation as required by the FP, including collecting required documentation from members.
  • Collaborate with the FP and Branch leadership to support processes and initiatives, and assist with special projects such as technology service/maintenance and supply orders.
  • Process transactions to direct assets into suitable financial products based on the client’s risk/reward tolerance, demographic profile, and documented planning steps.
  • Ensure compliance standards are adhered to in all dealings, and adhere to all operational, risk, and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and helpfulness at all times to provide superior member service.
  • Engage in partnership with the FP and branch team, supporting the FP in achieving business plans to meet goals, and sponsor local and organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain continuity of member experience in the FP’s absence.
  • Proactively build pipeline opportunities for the FP during member meetings.
  • Build share of wallet by identifying and acting on non‑investment products and services, insurance, and referrals to partners where applicable.
  • Build relationships to contribute to the team and work independently when required.
  • Support Coast’s vision, values and mission; lead by example, share knowledge, and participate in community activities to support local and corporate initiatives.
Who are we looking for?
  • 2+ years of related experience in an investments capacity working with portfolios and associated requirements.
  • IFIC/CSC – MFDA/IIROC license is required.
  • Working knowledge of various quotation equipment and industry‑specific computer software.
  • Basic investment knowledge and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Decision‑maker with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage interruptions, and assess situations to determine importance, urgency, and risk, making timely, well‑informed decisions.
