How does the role impact the organization?

As a member of the Finance team and reporting to the VP Financial Analysis and Treasurer, the Financial Analyst will be instrumental in supporting the financial analysis function at Raymond James Ltd. and will provide guidance and support to operational and strategic decision making within the firm. Principle responsibilities include managing the planning/budgeting process and on-going financial forecasts; preparing internal financial reports;

developing, enhancing and providing ongoing support for cost models and analysis; preparing economic models and impact analysis; assisting with feasibility studies and strategic infrastructure project analysis; and providing on-going analysis and assistance in the Finance Department as required.

What will your role be responsible for?
  • Gathering, analyzing and interpreting extremely large sets of financial data from several different software solutions;
  • Compiling monthly/quarterly reports for senior management;
  • Measuring and reporting key business/operational indicators;
  • Involved in the preparation and planning for the corporate budget processes;
  • Performing on-going variance analysis for the firm and department financial statements;
  • Assisting in analyzing pricing of corporate and operational services and recommending course of action. Liaises with management on related matters;
  • Involved in areas such cash management, expense allocations and client interest rate analysis;
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining frameworks for analysis of functional area cost structures and departmental/product line profitability to support and improve operational efficiency;
  • Conducting research and studies involving financial analysis and economic projections. Preparing management reports and presenting study results;
  • Preparing/creating clear and concise reports and spreadsheets to communicate the results of complex analytical work.

What do we expect from you?

To qualify for this opportunity you possess:

  • Undergraduate Degree;
  • A CPA designation or working towards designation would be an asset;
  • Enrollment in the CFA course would be an asset;
  • 1-3 years’ experience in cost accounting or financial analysis;
  • Related experience in the securities industry would be an asset;
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Access;
  • Experience with SQL or other query language is an asset;
  • Experience with Visual Basic, Power query, or Power BI is an asset;
  • Strong desire to learn and develop industry knowledge and grow within the firm;
  • A high level of attention to detail;
  • Strong inter-personal skills and a team player;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to be self-motivated, as well as work independently under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • The ability to be creative and resourceful; and
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.

Salary Range:

$60, annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.
