Planning Specialist

Position: Planning Specialist Island
Become a Planning Specialist at McElhanney, focusing on community-oriented projects in Campbell River, BC. Drive innovative solutions in urban planning and engage with various local entities.

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing McElhanney’s planning practice and enhancing vibrant communities across Vancouver Island. Work closely with local governments on crucial projects like Parks and Trails planning, while also managing public engagement processes. Your expertise in community planning will help shape effective policies and development approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead community planning activities and engagements

• Update Official Community Plans and zoning regulations

• Design and deliver successful public engagement initiatives

• Collaborate with developers on municipal approvals

• Manage multifaceted planning projects from beginning to end

Requirements:

• At least 10 years of relevant planning experience

• 2+ years leading project teams

• Advanced degree in urban planning or equivalent

• Experience in regulatory policy and drafting

• Registered member of the appropriate planning institutes
