The Vancouver Police Department invites retired officers to apply for the Retired Police Officer Program. This unique opportunity enables retired members to remain engaged in frontline policing while avoiding the commitment of full-time work. Applicants must meet specific criteria, including recent retirement or current service with a Canadian police force and maintain all required training and certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mentor younger officers and share knowledge
• Remain deployable to work patrol duties
• Participate in ongoing training and development
• Uphold VPD protocols and standards
• Support community policing initiatives
Requirements:
• Must be recently retired or eligible to retire
• Completed police recruit training from an accredited academy
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
• Pass medical exams and on-boarding process
• No current disciplinary allegations pending
