Clinical Nurse Specialist, Cardiac Sciences Critical Care

Salary: CAD $54.19/hr – $77.89/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Report operationally to the Director, Cardiac Sciences Vancouver Acute and provide leadership and direction in nursing care delivery.
  • Foster, facilitate, and achieve the highest standards of service delivery through planning, development, and implementation of clinical policies and programs.
  • Provide expert advice on nursing, resource planning, program and health system improvement, research, and professional development to support quality and utilization initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate practice, contribute to organizational development, and develop frameworks and strategies to implement best practices.
  • Function as a clinical leader in Cardiac Sciences Critical Care, advancing nursing practice through advanced practice and evidence‑based research.
  • Act as a liaison between hospitals and community programs to integrate care across the continuum and report on professional nursing practice matters.
  • Provide leadership and expert consultation to team members, health‑care staff, patients, families, and significant others.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Medical Directors, Clinical Educators, nurse clinicians, staff nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to proactively advance nursing practice at regional, provincial, and national levels.
Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Nursing and a current registered nurse licence with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent related experience in cardiac critical care with a progressive leadership role.
  • Canadian Nurses Association certification in Cardiac Care or membership in related professional associations is preferred.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Effectively collaborates to build relationships that promote cooperative goals and foster trust and mutual respect.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key partners to promote and enhance services with a trauma‑informed, culturally safe approach.
  • Consults professionally to share expertise with caregivers, patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Provides and evaluates education/orientation on advanced practices to ensure skill levels meet care standards.
  • Utilizes expert acute clinical evaluation skills to assess patient needs.
  • Identifies and develops discipline‑specific standards for teaching and education in collaboration with academic institutions and professional bodies.
  • Plans and implements ongoing research initiatives.
  • Leads staff by fostering motivation, respectful relationships, and decision‑making.
  • Communicates findings and advice with advanced verbal, written, and technological skills.
  • Applies knowledge of cross‑cultural and diversity issues within the health‑care environment.

The hours of work, days off, and work area may change to meet operational requirements under the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
