Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As a Quality Engineering Lead (QE Lead), you will play a senior technical and leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of throughout their lifecycle. This position blends hands-on testing expertise, automation strategy, and team leadership to drive a culture of quality across development teams. We’re looking for a seasoned leader with deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for driving quality at scale.
This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at Vancity head office. Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed.
How You'll Make an Impact:
Quality Strategy & Planning
Defining and implementing the overall test strategy, governance model, and quality framework for projects and programsCollaborating with product and engineering leaders to align quality objectives with business goalsDeveloping and managing master test plans, test schedules, and resource plans across multiple parallel workstreamsEstablishing metrics and KPIs (e.g., defect density, automation coverage, test cycle time)Generating and presenting detailed reports on testing activities, quality metrics, and project status to stakeholdersTeam Leadership
Leading, mentoring, and coaching QA/QE engineers in automation, performance, and exploratory testingConducting code and test reviews to maintain high standardsIdentifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on product qualityFostering a “shift-left” testing culture by encouraging early involvement in the SDLCAutomation & Tools
Working closely with the Automation team to enhance, develop, and execute a robust automated testing suite that supports overall QA goalsIntegrating testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI)Supporting the Evaluation and implement tools for API testing, performance testing, and monitoringQuality Advocacy
Partnering with developers to promote testability and maintainabilityCollaborating with Dev Ops and release engineering to ensure smooth deploymentsLeading root cause analyses for production issues and implementing preventive measuresHands-On Testing
Designing and executing test plans for complex features or systemsIdentifying, documenting, and tracking defects, and working with development teams to resolve themConducting performance, security, and regression testing where neededWhat You’ll Bring to the Team:
10+ years of experience in quality engineering, software testing, or a related field within the financial industryMinimum 3+ years of prior experience in a leadership or managerial role. Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and motivate a team of quality engineersBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldTechnical Expertise: Strong background in test automation, scripting (Python, JavaScript, Java), and CI/CD; experience with pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or Git LabTesting Frameworks: Hands-on experience with modern tools like Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, or PostmanCloud & Dev Ops: Familiarity with AWS or Azure, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure testingAnalytical Mindset:
