BC Place Stadium is hiring an Audio Visual (AV) Broadcast Technician to join the Facility Operations team.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $44.58
Union: BCGEU
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facility Operations, the AV Broadcast Technician supports the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual and broadcast systems within the stadium. This includes support for a wide range of live events, including professional and amateur sporting events, concerts, trade shows, banquets, corporate meetings, conferences, and community-based programs, ensuring consistent, high-quality audio-visual and broadcast delivery across all event types.
What You’ll Do:- Event support, including pre-event, during and post event.
- Coordinate AV requirements with event and operations teams.
- Support digital signage and display management systems.
- Prepare systems for live event operations, including pre-event setup, testing and validation.
- Assist with the Installation and commissioning of AV and broadcast equipment, including equipment racks, video displays, LED displays, digital signage hardware, CCTV cameras, audio systems, control systems, and infrastructure components.
- Perform physical installation of equipment in technical rooms, concourses, suites, and event spaces.
- Support system upgrades, expansions, and retrofits.
- Install, terminate, test, and label video, audio, control, and network cabling, including SDI, XLR, serial data, and fiber optic systems.
- Perform soldering, connector assembly, and structured cabling in accordance with industry standards.
- Maintain documentation of cabling and signal paths.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, signal flow, and network-related faults.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system testing.
- Repair electronic and AV equipment where applicable.
- Provide basic AV operational training and guidance to staff, clients and guests.
- Deliver professional, customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work safely at heights using lifts, ladders, and fall protection systems.
- Follow all occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Maintain accurate records related to equipment, maintenance, and system performance.
- Perform other related duties.
- Inter-Provincial or BC Trade qualification, or a minimum two-year diploma in Electronics, Media Technology, or related field (BCIT or equivalent), with demonstrated training in one of the following:
- Electronics repair and diagnostics
- AV and broadcast system installation
- Structured and specialty cabling
- Digital signage systems
- Minimum two (2) years of AV systems integration and maintenance experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of practical experience in live AV or broadcast production
- Demonstrated experience with AV workflows and AV integration projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics, system diagrams, and floor plans.
- Strong working knowledge of networking principles as applied to AV systems, including IP addressing, switches, and VLANs.
- Experience with AV over IP-based media systems an protocols (NDI, Dante, QSC, Crestron) is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and related business applications.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical systems under time-sensitive conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional interaction with staff, clients, performers, and guests.
- Demonstrated customer service skills in a live event or operational environment.
