Java Technical Expert​/Lead

THIS ROLE IS BASED IN VANCOUVER BC AND IS NOT OPEN TO REMOTE OPTIONS.

We are looking for a Java Technical Expert who will act as a trusted advisor to the client. This is not a project management or team‑lead role; instead, the focus is on technical leadership, client guidance, and team development.

• Deep Technical Expertise – Advanced knowledge of Java, related frameworks, and best practices.
• Client Leadership – Able to understand client needs, guide solution design, and influence technical direction.
• Hands‑On Contribution – Strong coding, debugging, and optimization skills, with the ability to solve complex technical issues directly.
• Coaching & Mentoring – Supports and develops other team members by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, designs, and fostering best practices.
• Collaboration – Works closely with client stakeholders and internal delivery teams to ensure alignment and technical excellence.
• Advisory Role – Helps the client make informed decisions on architecture, tools, and implementation approaches.

• 10+ years of proven software development experience developing enterprise solutions.
• 6+ years of hands‑on experience in developing Web services and API solutions using various Java based frameworks.
• Proficient in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, and JavaScript.
• Proficient in relational database management systems, Mybatis and Oracle DB queries.
• Proficient in Web User Interface (UI) using HTML4/HTML5, CSS2/CSS3, XHTML, JSP, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, JSON, SOAP, REST services.
• Strong knowledge of Domain Driven design & Micro Service Architecture.
• Strong knowledge of API design, including versioning, isolation and micro‑services.
• Experience in testing frameworks like Junit.
• Knowledge in Dev Ops processes, continuous integration and delivery pipelines (Maven, Jenkins, Stash, Ansible, Docker).

✓ CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licensure and certification. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range in British Columbia is $65,000 - $130,000
