Job Title: Business Development Professional, Mineral Resources

Starting Date: ASAP (end of July / early August)
Work Hours: 9:00 am-5:00 pm, M-F (Flexible working hours available). Weekly total: 35 hrs.
Compensation: $80-130K/year and a competitive benefit package

Reporting to the Vice President of Mineral Resources, the successful candidate will:
- Support department planning and management of the department’s business.
- Collaborate closely with the Vancouver Office Business Development & Innovation Department and be responsible for mineral resources and other businesses’ technological innovation (i.e. technologies in various sectors, including AI, cleantech, critical minerals, decarbonization) from startup scouting and the relevant due diligence perspectives.
- Act as the local representative and support the business objectives of the parent company in Japan and other key overseas offices.
- Maintain existing investment activities for startups and venture capitals.
- Maintain and strengthen overall relationship with main partner companies and governments.
- Attend seminars and webinars, study industry news, exchange information and opinions with key players in the industry.
- Conduct research and prepare reports with personal perspectives about key industrial players’ announcement and future strategies.
- Learn, understand and keep up-to-date knowledge on emerging technological and market trends in the business sectors to assist the Department Manager’s industry research and business development activities.
- Conduct and maintain direct communication with parental companies in the United States and Japan.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Fluent in English, with strong business writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Japanese language and understanding of Japanese business culture is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in one or more of the following areas:
Mining or mineral resources;
Trading or business development;
Technological innovation or related sectors. - University degree with foundational knowledge of emerging technologies and North American market dynamics.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with venture capital or startup investment is an asset.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (US or Japan) as required.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
- There is no visa support from the employer.
