Who- the Company:

Exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing international Vancouver-based company and one of Vancouver’s finest! Our client is a people-centric organization and known for their collaborative team culture.

What- the Role:

The E‑Invoicing Business Analyst plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and ongoing management of electronic invoicing (e‑invoicing) solutions to ensure compliance with global indirect tax and regulatory requirements. This role acts as a bridge between tax, finance, IT, vendors, and external authorities to translate business and compliance needs into scalable system and process solutions.
The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of VAT/GST regulations, e‑invoicing mandates, and business process analysis with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, global environments.

Business & Regulatory Analysis

  • Analyze global and regional e‑invoicing and real‑time reporting mandates (e.g., PEPPOL, clearance models, digital reporting requirements).
  • Interpret indirect tax and compliance requirements and translate them into functional and technical business requirements.
  • Assess current invoice‑to‑cash and procure‑to‑pay processes to identify gaps, risks, and optimization opportunities related to e‑invoicing.

Solution Design & Implementation

  • Partner with IT, finance, tax, and external vendors to support e‑invoicing solution selection, design, and deployment.
  • Create detailed documentation including:
    • Business requirements documents (BRDs)
    • Functional specifications
    • Process maps and data flow diagrams
  • Validate system configurations and integrations (e.g., ERP, middleware, tax engines).

Stakeholder & Project Support

  • Act as a primary liaison between tax, finance, IT, procurement, and external service providers.
  • Support project planning, testing cycles (UAT), and go‑live readiness.
  • Provide clear communication and status updates to stakeholders, highlighting risks and remediation plans.

Testing, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios focused on regulatory compliance and business accuracy.
  • Support post‑implementation monitoring to ensure sustained compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Track regulatory changes and recommend enhancements to existing e‑invoicing processes and systems.
Who – the Candidate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
  • 4–7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with demonstrated exposure to:
  • E‑invoicing, digital tax reporting, or indirect tax compliance
  • ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics)
  • Experience working in global or multi‑jurisdictional environments

Preferred Experience & Skills

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • E‑invoicing frameworks (PEPPOL, clearance vs. post‑audit models)
    • VAT/GST invoice requirements
    • Order‑to‑Cash (O2C) and Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) processes
  • Familiarity with:
    • XML/JSON invoice formats
    • Middleware or e‑invoicing platforms (e.g., Sovos, Vertex, Avalara, Pagero, Tradeshift)
  • Proficiency in process modeling and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Jira, Confluence).

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical system solutions
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working under regulatory deadlines

What Success Looks Like

  • E‑invoicing solutions are delivered on time, compliant, and scalable
