Job Summary
The Team Lead, AV Infrastructure provides leadership in the design, engineering, and supporting infrastructure of audiovisual (AV) systems across the Faculty of Medicine’s provincially distributed education environment. The incumbent leads the AV Infrastructure & Design team, ensuring that AV solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with institutional standards, program requirements, and long-term sustainability. The team also serves as the escalation point for Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support, providing advanced troubleshooting, break/fix resolution, and subject matter expertise for complex AV system issues.
The Team Lead, AV Infrastructure is responsible for developing AV design standards, engineering frameworks, system architectures, and technical specifications that support new implementations and renewal initiatives. The role provides advanced technical guidance for AV systems design and infrastructure planning, and integration, working closely with AV Projects and AV Operations to ensure designs are implementable, supportable, and effectively integrated across FoM’s distributed learning environments, including university campuses and clinical sites in partnership with health authorities.
The Team Lead collaborates closely with internal teams, UBC IT, health authority partners, and vendors to ensure AV designs integrate effectively with existing infrastructure, security requirements, and enterprise technologies. The position also manages and mentors staff in the day-to-day performance of work, contributes to strategic planning and resource development, and provides technical leadership across AV infrastructure, engineering, and design-related product and service lines.
