What It's Like To Be Northbridge Underwriting Team Leader
The Underwriting Team Leader for our Onyx team is responsible for coaching and mentoring the underwriting staff, ensuring the effective operation of the unit by coordinating, directing, and enhancing underwriting procedures. In addition, this position is responsible for underwriting and servicing large accounts and complex exposures.
We want your talent – If you are great at:- Executing the renewal rate and exposure, retention, and rate adequacy guidelines.
- Being responsible for the successful evaluation, documentation, selection, negotiation, and pricing for assigned policies to ensure a profitable book of business within established underwriting authority.
- Providing recommendations, redirecting requests for pricing decisions and risk selection for risks beyond personal authority.
- Mentoring and training less experienced underwriters.
- Providing service staff with clear instructions and explanations for data entry to ensure accuracy and service standards.
- Post-secondary school education and/or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Minimum 7 years experience in the property and casualty industry.
- 1-2 years’ experience in team supervision is an asset.
- Completion of the CIP and/or FCIP designation.
- Working knowledge of company underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting/technical manual information, statutory constraints, and computer workflow procedures.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of underwriting discipline and pricing models.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $76,000 - $114,000, reflecting the expected base pay – not the total compensation package. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.
