Commercial Lines Underwriting Manager – Mid-MarketWe’re looking for a Hybrid Underwriting Manager based in Vancouver or Calgary. This is a leadership role where you’ll manage a team of underwriters, oversee commercial accounts, and ensure tailored solutions for a variety of business risks.
Why this role is exciting:Lead and mentor a team of underwriters while shaping day-to-day operationsCollaborate with brokers and cross-functional teams to deliver precise underwriting solutionsPlay a key role in operational improvements and change initiativesDevelop your career through leadership opportunities and professional developmentWhat you’ll do:Oversee policy evaluation, documentation, negotiation, and pricingBuild and maintain professional relationships with brokers and clientsLead and coach a team to deliver consistent underwriting excellencePartner with actuarial and claims teams to support accurate decision-makingDrive operational improvements and ensure adherence to processes and compliance standardsWhat you bring:10+ years of commercial underwriting experience3+ years in a leadership roleExperience with operational change managementCIP, FCIP, or RPLU designation (completed or in progress)Strong customer service and relationship management skillsCompensation and perks:Salary range: $115,000 – $160,000 depending on experienceFlexible hybrid work model (office and home)Comprehensive benefits including employee share purchase plans, pension plans, RRSP, insurance discounts and wellness programsProfessional development support through training, mentoring, and education assistanceCandidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
