Community Interpreter at VAST

Support mental health services as a community interpreter at VAST, leveraging your language skills for refugees. Fluency in Amharic, Somali, or Thai is required.

VAST is seeking dedicated interpreters who can facilitate communication between our mental health professionals and refugee clients. This position focuses on providing interpretation in a sensitive environment, ensuring clients receive care that is both accessible and respectful.

Your role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of care provided to those affected by trauma.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret during clinical sessions and group meetings

• Check in with VAST staff regarding client needs

• Conduct follow-ups for appointment logistics

• Ensure documentation is translated promptly

• Provide tech training for virtual platforms as needed

Requirements:

• Proficiency in English and one other language

• Two years of professional interpreting experience

• Experience with vulnerable communities

• Background in trauma-informed settings

• Proof of qualifications necessary
