Full‑time permanent Buyer position in Purchasing at our Leamington facility.
Responsibilities Review inventory levels of assigned commodities to maintain healthy stock levels and increase inventory turns.
Use current market insights to drive competitive pricing strategies and proactively mitigate future pricing risks.
Continuously analyze incoming goods versus forecast/demand; establish reorder points in the system.
Communicate PO requirements to the Purchasing Manager for approval.
Frequently review vendor scorecards, flag increasing risk to the Purchasing Manager, and send scorecards to suppliers for review.
Highlight potential obsolete or slow‑moving material to the Dry Goods Purchasing Manager for review.
Build and maintain professional relationships with key suppliers.
Request pricing for new or existing items through the RFQ process from the company approved suppliers list.
Generate quote summaries, review with the Purchasing Manager, and recommend actions.
Generate price change notice forms and review with the Purchasing Manager for further actions.
Maintain and update commodity data for the assigned commodities in the computerized system.
Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Biosecurity, and Nature Fresh policies and procedures.
Complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications Three or more years of proven experience in the agricultural/produce industry and/or purchasing, packaging, and/or material planning.
Negotiation skills.
Critical thinking and analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Extensive knowledge of MS Office (specifically Excel), ERP systems, and the CHEP program.
Post‑secondary education in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional work environment.
Hands‑on, process‑oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and maintain attention to detail and quality in a fast environment.
Flexibility to adapt to rapid growth, innovation, and development of the company.
Valid driver’s license; personal vehicle use required as needed.
Spanish language skills considered an asset.
Expectations Most of the day is spent in the office.
Fast‑paced warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from cooler to temperature‑controlled areas.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.
Balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse.
Collaborate with a wide array of people and cultures, including guest workers, locals, contractors, and vendors.
Full‑time hours Monday to Friday 8am‑5pm, with Saturdays and holidays as needed.
