About Arcom

Arcom was built to fix what traditional freight forwarders overlook — outdated systems, slow communication, and reactive service. We're a tech-enabled, service-obsessed logistics partner delivering air, ocean, ground, and specialty freight with speed, precision, and total transparency. From strategy to execution, we simplify complex supply chains and earn our clients' trust, shipment after shipment.

Freight. Warehousing. Customs. Tracking. Strategy. All under one roof, fully integrated with our clients' systems for radical visibility — serving industries from pharmaceuticals to heavy machinery, where there is zero room for error.

Position Summary

The Import Export Operations Specialist manages end-to-end international shipments across ocean (FCL/LCL), air, and ground freight, ensuring accurate documentation, customs compliance, and seamless coordination between carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and clients. This role sits at the center of Arcom's “one seamless ecosystem” model and is directly responsible for the real-time visibility and white-glove service that sets Arcom apart from traditional forwarders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage import/export shipments across ocean, air, and ground freight modes, from booking through final delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
  • Ensure customs compliance: tariff classification, import/export regulatory requirements, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty awareness.
  • Liaise daily with customs brokers, ocean/air carriers, trucking partners, and warehouse teams to track shipments and resolve exceptions.
  • Provide proactive, real-time shipment status updates to clients, reflecting Arcom's 24/7 support commitment.
  • Support Project Cargo operations — route planning, permitting, and specialized equipment coordination — as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Warehousing & Fulfillment team on inventory tracking, storage, and packaging/labelling for client shipments.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support the Consultancy team's cost reduction, vendor streamlining, and sourcing initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date data in tracking/TMS systems to support full-chain visibility for clients.
  • Support Arcom's sustainability commitments through route optimization, responsible carrier selection, and shipment consolidation.
  • Adapt to the compliance and handling requirements of Arcom's diverse client base: healthcare, manufacturing, food & beverage, aviation & aerospace, oil & gas, retail & fashion, automotive & mobility, technology & electronics, construction materials, and furniture.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or import/export operations.
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, HS/tariff classification, and customs documentation requirements.
  • Experience with ocean (FCL/LCL), air, and/or ground freight processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client- and carrier-facing coordination.
  • Proficiency with logistics/TMS software and general office technology.
  • CIFFA training or customs brokerage certification is an asset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, client-focused environment.
What Arcom Offers
  • A “human-led, tech-enabled” culture that blends modern logistics technology with real human judgment and real-time responsiveness.
  • Exposure to a full-service ecosystem — freight, warehousing, customs, tracking, and strategic consulting — all under one roof.
  • Work with high-stakes industries where precision and compliance matter, from pharmaceuticals to heavy machinery.
  • Global reach: shipments across North America, South America, Europe, Eastern Europe & CIS, the Middle East, Central America, Asia, Africa, and Australia & Oceania.
  • A company genuinely invested in sustainability — route and carrier optimization, load consolidation — and in respectful, informed engagement with Indigenous communities across its operating regions.
  • A collaborative, 24/7 team-support culture rather than a siloed one.
