Repairs & Maintenance

Full-time

Aug 06, 2026

Yearly: $70000 - $75000

Love fixing things and keeping equipment running at its best? Our members count on machines that work every single day — and we're looking for a hands‑on leader to make sure they do.

Repair & Maintenance Technician Manager
, you’ll be a true player‑coach: on the floor doing the repairs yourself and building a team of R&M Technicians who take real pride in their work. This is a lead‑from‑the‑front role for someone who’s happiest with a tool in hand and a team to bring along with them.

You’ll use our “Tell, Show, Do” approach to grow your technicians — explain it, demonstrate it, then coach them until they own it. Reporting to the VP of Construction, your work will have a visible, meaningful impact at every club: safe, reliable equipment and members who feel proud to be part of Fitness World.

What You’ll Do

Repair & maintain the equipment our members rely on

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair cardio and strength equipment — treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers, steppers, selectorized and plate‑loaded machines, cable systems, benches, etc.
  • Work across mechanical, electronic, and structural fixes: belts, decks, motors, bearings, drive systems, consoles and display boards, cables and pulleys, upholstery, welds, and hardware.
  • Calibrate and test equipment after every repair so it’s safe, accurate, and member‑ready before it goes back on the floor.
  • Tag and remove unsafe or out‑of‑service equipment quickly, and get it back in rotation as fast as possible.
Own the preventative maintenance program
  • Run and continuously improve preventative maintenance schedules that keep equipment reliable and extend its lifespan across all locations.
  • Carry out routine inspections and servicing, and keep clear records of what’s been done, what’s coming due, and where each machine is in its lifecycle.
  • Spot recurring problems and wear patterns early, and adjust the program so small issues never become expensive ones.
Lead from the front as a player‑coach
  • Schedule, dispatch, and balance the workload of your R&M Technicians across multiple clubs, prioritizing by member impact and urgency.
  • Set the standard for quality, safety, and pace by working alongside your team — not just directing from a desk.
  • Ride along on service calls, assess each technician’s skills, and give hands‑on, in‑the‑moment feedback.
Develop Your Team With “Tell, Show, Do”
  • Onboard, train, and grow technicians using the Tell, Show, Do model — explain the task, demonstrate it, then coach them to independent competence.
  • Create simple repair guides, checklists, and standard procedures so the whole team works to one consistent standard.
  • Cross‑train technicians on different equipment types and brands to build depth and flexibility across the team.
  • Train on‑site club staff on basic equipment care, safe handling, and when to escalate an issue.
Manage parts, tickets, and systems
  • Manage repair tickets end to end in our maintenance (CMMS) software, keeping status, notes, and completion accurate and up to date.
  • Order, organize, and track parts inventory, setting reorder points so common parts are always on hand.
  • Handle manufacturer warranty claims and returns to recover costs wherever possible.
  • Report on the metrics that matter — equipment downtime, response and repair times, PM completion, and repair costs — and use them to keep improving.
Respond fast and keep everyone safe
  • Respond promptly and professionally to urgent equipment issues and facility emergencies, triaging by safety and member impact.
  • Run routine safety, cleanliness, and equipment inspections, and keep us compliant with WorkSafeBC and health & safety standards.
  • Follow and enforce safe work practices, and document…
