Located in the Oakridge area of Vancouver, B.C., Louis Brier Home and Hospital is a 215-bed accredited Long Term care facility situated next to the Weinberg Residence, which is home to 40 Assisted Living and 20 Multilevel Care residents.

The Manager, Facilities & Capital Projects is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all building operations, maintenance, and facility-related projects within the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and Weinberg Residence. The role ensures that all physical assets, systems, and infrastructure are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational objectives.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, Facilities & Capital Projects provides leadership to maintenance personnel, contractors, and service providers while supporting a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

• Facilities and Maintenance Management
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including:
• HVAC systems
• Electrical systems
• Plumbing systems
• Fire and life safety systems
• Security systems
• Elevators and medical support infrastructure
• Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and ensure timely resolution of facility-related issues.
• Maintain building integrity and functionality through regular inspections and audits.
• Regulatory Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, municipal, healthcare, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage fire safety programs, emergency preparedness initiatives, and life safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Lead facility risk assessments and implement corrective actions as required.
• Project and Capital Planning
  • Participate in facility improvement, renovation, and capital projects.
  • Prepare project scopes, budgets, schedules, and contractor specifications.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure completion on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with leadership on long-term facility planning and asset management strategies.
• Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.
• Review vendor contracts and service agreements to ensure value and compliance.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to maintenance and facility staff.
• Establish work priorities and schedules to meet operational requirements.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment.
• Support staff training and professional development.
• Vendor and Contractor Management
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with site safety requirements and organizational standards.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and maintain quality service delivery.
• Carries manager-on-call phone and responds to emergency issues as per facility policies.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Degree or Diploma in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Technology, or a related discipline, supplemented by a professional designation such as FMP, CFM, CET, or PMP.…
