Located in the heart of Vancouver, Vancouver Community College (VCC) is one of British Columbia’s largest and most established public post-secondary institutions, with campuses in Downtown and East Vancouver. VCC offers a broad range of career-focused certificates, diplomas, , apprenticeships, bachelor’s degrees and continuing education programs, combining applied learning with strong connections to industry and community. Known for its practical, student-centred approach, VCC plays an important role in preparing learners for in-demand careers while supporting workforce development, economic participation, and access to education across the region.
VCC is entering an exciting new chapter, with significant investments in campus renewal, program innovation, and initiatives that will strengthen the College’s contribution to British Columbia’s workforce and clean economy. At the centre of this momentum is the new Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation at the Broadway campus, which will create new opportunities for hands‑on learning, applied research, and industry collaboration in clean energy, automotive, and advanced transportation.

The Centre forms part of a broader vision for campus renewal and growth, positioning VCC to expand its contribution to workforce modernization, technology adoption, and the low‑carbon economy.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the inaugural Executive Director, Institute for Applied Climate Solutions will provide strategic leadership for VCC’s applied research, workforce innovation, industry engagement, and technology adoption initiatives. The Executive Director will lead the development and growth of a nationally recognized institute focused on clean energy, electrification, sustainable construction, climate resilience, and low‑carbon technologies, while building partnerships with industry, government, Indigenous communities, funding agencies, and community organizations.
The salary range for this position is $151, 088 to $231,669. Normal salary placement is between $151, 088 and the mid‑point of $201, 451. Compensation beyond the control/mid‑point requires approval by the Public Sector Employer’s Council Secretariat (PSEC).
As the successful candidate, you will have a master’s degree in a relevant field such as Climate Studies, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or Education with a strong focus on climate change and technology, together with a minimum of 15 years of recent related experience, including at least five years in a senior leadership capacity. You will bring demonstrated success in applied research, workforce development, innovation, industry partnerships, and securing and managing externally funded initiatives, complemented by strong strategic, entrepreneurial, financial, and relationship‑building capabilities and a sophisticated understanding of Canada’s applied research and post‑secondary landscape.
