Position: Senior Production Specialist - Day Shift, contract

Production Specialists will be monitoring product/material quality performance through applicable areas, from receiving, pin through-hole, surface mount components, finished PCBA and box level assemblies, and when applicable secondary and mechanical operations (coating, potting, stamping, painting, etc.) but not limited to these areas where the product or process inspections may be required. The Production Specialist will be able to support other functions required by the supervisor, such as assembly operations, rework/repair or activities related to the manufacturing operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting incoming products or components by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials. (not limited to raw materials or subassemblies)
  • Perform inspection using defined inspection tools (microscope, calipers, CMM, AOI , etc.)
  • Inspection of assemblies through the manufacturing process
  • Ability to operate visual inspection devices applicable to the operation (i.e. X-ray, AOI)
  • Capture and register inspection data using the required system
  • Follow procedure when a non-conformance is detected
  • Proactively initiate defect reduction actions in collaboration with the Production and Engineering Teams
  • Participate in RCCA for systemic issues appointed by the quality team
  • Collaborate with Quality Team for issue resolution
  • Demonstrate Inspection and Rework skills with a broad knowledge of IPC and other requirements for the role (IPC-A-610, IPC 7711/ 7721, IPC J-STD-001)
  • Perform product assembly, rework or repair as required by the organization
  • Able to lead meetings and drive for action
  • Great attitude of leadership and collaboration
  • Able to back up the Manufacturing Supervisor (or equivalent) as required
  • Able to train others as needed and appointed by the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Follow additional inspection instructions documented and defined by the organization and other duties as assigned
  • Back up Manufacturing Team Leader (or supervisor) as required
  • Able to participate in meetings and suggest improvement that drive for actions
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

  • Previous minimum 5-years working experience in the industry (either as an inspector, manufacturing assembly operator or other related position) or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks
  • Possess proficient written and verbal communication skills to perform product inspections and defect descriptions to and with all levels of the organization
  • Color identification
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Quality focused with an eye for challenging the status quo, and driving continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
  • Working Knowledge of IPC 7711/ 7721 (Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies)
  • Minimum 3-year electronic assembly particularity with SMT and thru-hole operations or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks
  • Background in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies) or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks
  • Previous inspection or rework experience
  • Preferred

  • Knowledge of IPC-WHMA-A-620 (Requirement and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
  • Knowledge in Medical, Aerospace, Automotive or FDA related products

  • You need to be legally eligible to work full-time in British Columbia, Canada for any employer

  • Offer of employment contingent on successful background check

  • Shift: Day (Monday to Friday, 7AM-3:30PM)

  • This is a full time fixed term (6 months) position to start

  • Base Pay:
    The anticipated pay range for this position is CDN $25.00–$30.00 per hour. The final offer will depend on factors including experience, education, etc.
