Production Coordinator

Mac Donald Search Group is proud to partner with a very successful Port Coquitlam manufacturing company in its search for a Production Coordinator. We are seeking a high-energy, proactive Production Coordinator to serve as the bridge between departments and ensure cohesive production flow.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will be a center point of our client s workflow, optimizing the production schedule and coordinating activity before and after the line runs (raw materials, inputs and shipping). This role emphasizes people and impact, not just spreadsheets, and involves augmenting and elevating the Production Scheduler while acting as a critical liaison across multiple departments to design the most efficient production plan possible.
As the primary contact between Production, Inventory, Procurement, Shipping, and Sales, you ll ensure materials, insights, and workflows move seamlessly through the plant. You may also provide backup coverage for the Production Scheduler when needed.
Responsibilities- Communication & Liaison:
Maintain proactive communication between shipping, production, procurement, and inventory teams to anticipate and prevent delays. - Sales Team Ally:
Serve as the main point of contact for the Sales team regarding real-time order updates. - Real-Time Agility:
Communicate schedule changes, risks, and constraints clearly to all stakeholders as they unfold. - End-to-End Planning & Scheduling:
Transform the production schedule into a master plan for flawless, timely execution from raw material arrival through final shipping. - Next-Day Planning:
Review next-day production plans and partner with the Inventory Controller to optimize material issuance strategies. - Bulk Order Support:
Support the scheduler to meet critical release timelines during heavy bulk order entries. - Material Watchdog:
Identify shortages of non-inventory or critical project-specific materials and alert stakeholders promptly. - Shipping Synchronization:
Coordinate with Shipping to ensure accurate and timely order shipments and maintain up-to-date records. - Chaos Management:
Manage expedited orders and emergency requests with minimal disruption to the baseline schedule. - Inbound Alignment:
Coordinate inbound deliveries to align with the active production schedule. - Future Forecasting:
Use data from Sales and Operations Planning meetings to forecast capacity and anticipate utilization issues in advance. - Resource Planning:
Plan production capacity, raw material requirements, and shipping constraints using S&OP forecast insights. - R&D & Catalyst Coordination:
Coordinate between Production, Toolshop, and Engineering to schedule new product testing and ensure all details for a flawless test run are secured. - Debriefing:
Lead pre- and post-test meetings to analyze outcomes and map out the next steps.
- Education:
Graduate diploma in Supply Chain Management or a closely related field is required. - Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a production scheduling or related manufacturing/supply chain role. - Mindset:
Ultra-detail-oriented with a proactive, forward-thinking approach to problem-solving. - Tech Savvy:
Highly proficient in MS Excel and spreadsheet work. - Systems Knowledge:
Strong familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Infor Visual is highly recommended. - People
Skills:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to unite multiple departments and drive collaboration.
