POSITION SUMMARY

The Sanitation Manager is responsible for leading and executing all sanitation programs to ensure the facility consistently meets and exceeds food safety, regulatory, and customer standards. This role owns the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of sanitation systems, including SSOPs, master sanitation scheduling (MSS), and sanitation validation processes.

The Sanitation Manager drives compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, SQF standards, and internal quality requirements, while always ensuring audit readiness. This position plays a critical role in protecting product integrity, minimizing contamination risks, and supporting overall plant performance.

This leader is responsible for building a high‑performing sanitation team through training, standardization, and accountability, while fostering a culture of ownership, urgency, and food safety excellence across all shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and implement SSOPs, policies, procedures, and schedules to maintain sanitation facility requirements.
  • Oversee sanitation implementation of new products and equipment into production.
  • Perform analysis on sanitation performance and expenses and develop goals for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and sanitation to conform to company, auditor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain plant sanitation records ready for third‑party audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Schedule pest control vendor for corrective action and fumigation scheduling.
  • Maintain required level of supplies.
  • Follow J&J Snack Food’s Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Follow all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations.
  • Ensure effective execution and sustainment of sanitation events through verification, validation, and direct observations, confirming equipment and environments meet pre‑operational and operational food safety standards.
  • Establish and monitor sanitation effectiveness metrics, and drive corrective actions for any failures or recurring trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School diploma or GED. Prefer AA/AS or BA/BS in a related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Requires minimum 5 years’ experience as a Sanitation Manager working in a food manufacturing facility with all applicable regulatory inspections.
  • Must be able to develop and formalize written sanitation procedures and a Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements of facility food sanitation requirements.
  • Skills to address corrective action responses to any issues or challenges.
  • Ability to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to analyze report data to determine corrective actions needed to improve sanitation objectives.
  • Have proficient computer skills to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to identify sanitation concerns and to perform job safety analysis.
  • Prefer bilingual skills:
    English & Spanish.
