Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Director to join our leadership team and play a key role in driving client success, agency growth, and team development. This is a senior, hands‑on position that blends strategic oversight with day‑to‑day account leadership, new business support, and mentorship of mid‑level and junior team members. The ideal candidate is a confident relationship‑builder, strong communicator, and natural leader who thrives in a boutique agency environment.
This is a full‑time hybrid role based in Vancouver, BC, and offers the flexibility of both in‑office collaboration and work‑from‑home arrangements as well as a four‑day work week. The Director will oversee creative project development, lead strategic communications initiatives, and ensure project outcomes align with company vision and client needs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee a portfolio of key client accounts, ensuring high‑quality strategy, execution, and results
- Serve as a senior client contact, building trusted relationships and identifying opportunities to expand scope of work
- Provide strategic counsel across media relations, social media, large‑scale campaigns, brand storytelling, and issues management
- Support mid‑level and junior team members with day‑to‑day account guidance, problem‑solving, and execution support
- Mentor team members, contributing to their professional growth and development through coaching, feedback, and performance support
- Help foster a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with agency values
- Support new business development initiatives, including pitch strategy, proposal development, and presentations
- Identify organic growth opportunities within existing client relationships
- Represent the agency confidently in prospective client meetings and industry conversations
- Work closely with senior leadership to support agency goals, workflows, and best practices
- Contribute to process improvement, resourcing decisions, and internal planning to help the agency thrive
- Participate in occasional travel to Toronto/Montreal for client meetings, new business opportunities, and industry events, as required
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee projects and drive successful outcomes
- Expertise in strategic communications, creative direction, and developing innovative content solutions
- Strong skills in brand strategy, marketing, and digital and social Communications
- Experience with project management, budgeting, and meeting deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on storytelling and impactful messaging
- Proven experience working collaboratively in hybrid work environments
- 5‑7 years of experience in public relations or communications, ideally within an agency environment
- Proven experience leading client accounts and managing or mentoring teams
- Strong strategic thinking, writing, and presentation skills
- Experience supporting new business efforts and client growth
- Comfortable balancing high‑level strategy with hands‑on execution
- Based in Vancouver
