The Organization
Coast Mental Health Foundation (the Foundation) raises funds to support innovative and enhanced recovery programs at Coast Mental Health.
Coast Mental Health (Coast) is one of the largest mental health non-profit societies in Canada and operates a large array of innovative housing and community-based rehabilitation services for people with mental illness. Coast operates in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia providing approximately 1,100 people with supportive housing and thousands of clients living in the community with a wide range of mental health and support programs and services.
Coast fosters a client-driven, recovery-oriented environment that promotes restoring health, personal growth, and a return to society for individuals with a mental illness, through advocacy and providing direct programs and services.
The Foundation team is a group of dedicated individuals who believe that recovery and achieving one’s potential, despite a mental illness diagnosis, are possible. The Foundation and Coast are currently considering embarking on a significant project aimed at increasing the organizations’ ability to impact the lives of people living with mental illness.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Senior Manager, Marketing and Strategic Communications is responsible for developing, leading, and managing all brand, marketing and strategic communications activities for Coast Mental Health Foundation (CMHF), the fundraising arm of Coast Mental Health.
The Senior Manager, Marketing and Strategic Communications develops and delivers integrated strategies that strengthen the Foundation’s profile, advance fundraising priorities and support revenue growth from new and existing sources.
The Senior Manager leads the Foundation’s marketing and communications function, supports staff and oversees consultants, and works closely with Coast Foundation (Coast Mental Health), Coast Social Enterprises, and key funders to foster a unified, coherent brand and build mutually beneficial relationships.
Reporting
- Reports to the Senior Director, Fund Development, Coast Mental Health Foundation.
Strategic Communications and Engagement
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to support organizational goals, while refining and adapting as the organization and context evolve.
- Actively contribute to CMHF’s fund development strategy, recommending appropriate marketing and communications budget to support activities.
- Manage campaign timelines, assets, and approvals across all channels – digital, print, email, social and in-venue.
- Lead the implementation of a comprehensive brand campaign, including the day-to-day management of external agencies, liaison with stakeholders and roll‑out of the final assets, including the development of a new Foundation micro‑site.
- Work directly within the tools: build emails, schedule posts, update the website, and pull analytics.
- Collaborate with Coast Mental Health to ensure a consistent narrative and brand strategy.
- Support crisis communications, as needed, in coordination with senior leadership.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Foundation’s website.
- Work with Coast Mental Health’s communication team to ensure alignment on strategy, messaging and to align on opportunities across the two organizations.
Donor Communications
- Develop segmented communication plans and messaging support tailored to key donor audiences, including annual, mid-level, leadership, major giving, principal giving and transformational donors, as well as signature events such as the Courage to Come Back Awards.
- Support the development of major and principal gift proposals, cases for support, donor presentations and other customized materials that clearly articulate funding priorities, impact and opportunities for philanthropic investment.
